Welcoming Refugees to Hope and Safety
Find key information about how Heal supports refugee families and how you can get involved.
What is the mission of Heal: A New Beginning for Refugees?
Our mission is to welcome and support refugee families as they transition to life in the United States. We provide housing, household goods and furniture, initial food and clothing, help with transportation, as well as emotional support and cultural navigation as they rebuild their lives in a new country, far from the violence and persecution they have fled.
How does HEAL find refugees to sponsor?
We have sponsored families matched to our group through the US State Department’s ‘Sponsor Circles’ or ‘Welcome Corps’ programs. From Welcome Corp: “All refugees must meet the eligibility and admissibility criteria to be approved for resettlement through the USRAP.”
Can I sponsor a refugee family?
Yes! Sponsor Circles and the Welcome Corps are always looking for new sponsors either to bring refugee families to the US or to help refugee families already in their community. Send us a message, and we would love to tell you how.
Are donations to Heal tax-deductible?
Yes, Heal is a registered 501(c)(3) charity, so contributions are fully tax-deductible.
How can I get involved with Heal’s resettlement intiative?
If you are local to the greater Milwaukee area, we are always looking for household goods and furniture to furnish refugee apartments. We also need community volunteers who can drive a refugee family to an appointment or help them practice English. If you live further away, donations are always needed to help pay for rent, food, clothing, and transportation.
